I finally got emotional at a @BackstreetBoys concert and I have no shame

When you look at videos of boy band fangirls you see girls crying, their mouth full of wires (braces) shuttering from whining and being all emotional. It happened with The Beatles. It happened with New Kids on the Block. It happened with Backstreet Boys and One Direction.

While I’ve never cried at a Backstreet Boys concert, I came close to crying on Friday evening in Washington, D.C.

Was it when Nick performed in front of me for “The Way It Was?” No.

It was when the guys left the stage after their performance while being lifted in the air. The crowd was cheering and it was electric. I took a video of it, circling around to get everything.

The only other time I have felt anything like that was in 2011, when Kevin showed up on the cruise during the beach party and performed “Safest Place to Hide.”

This time the feeling was different. It was as if they were back in the “Millennium” days. The excitement that was in the air. The fans all lined up for days to get merchandise and they were selling out of items.

While I’ve known this DNA World Tour was a big deal, I guess it didn’t really hit me until that moment that they realize just how loved they are and that people still love them after all of these years.

Sure, there may be new fans there or fans that left the fandom and came back, but who cares? They love the boys and as a Backstreet Boys fan, that’s all I really care about.

I’ll have my full review after VIP photos are posted. 🙂
