Thoughts: Sometimes it really is better to say nothing at all

by | Mar 3, 2019 | Opinion, Thoughts | 0 comments

Remember what older people would say when you were a kid? That if you can’t say anything nice, then it’s better to say nothing at all?

For the majority of my life, I didn’t really believe it because I felt like I always needed to have the last word in arguments or fights or just … in general. I felt like it was going to be me that would make people see the right way (or what I thought was the right way or right opinion). Yeah, I’ve come a long way from my bitchy ways of yonder.

The thing is, as Backstreet Boys fans, there are things out there said about certain members that we know are not true. However, going after people who have a different opinion is making you/us no better than those think the other way.

See where I’m going with this?

Like Michelle Obama said, “When they go low, we go high.” Own that sentence. Believe that sentence. Live that sentence.

Calling someone out on Twitter in a subtweet or even directly tweeting them is going to do no good. Someone bothering you? Block them. Tired of what someone is tweeting? Unfollow them.

There are those that beg for the attention and when you get upset by something they say and go off, you are giving them the attention that feeds their soul.

Be like Michelle Obama. Go high. Let them be low.
