Edit: I wrote this last night and fell asleep before I could even publish it.
I know, I went MIA again.
There’s a few reasons for that.
After coming back from Charlotte and going straight to work, I was mentally and physically tired.
Then, as you saw in the video I posted the other day, it snowed – majorly. I ended up working a full day on Saturday even though I was only supposed to do a few hours and I only had Sunday off.
And because the roads were so bad and the weather was horrible Saturday with the snow and ice, my Mom couldn’t go to dialysis. So she went from Thursday to Tuesday without going and all of a sudden, when I pick her up from dialysis, she has to go to the emergency room. They tell her she has a sinus infection.
Well, apparently not. She had a kidney infection we find out on Thursday.
Wednesday, I went to work only to find out I had to work until 10 that night and hadn’t planned on it.
Friday, we had our company lunch and The Varsity and then I worked an earlier shift because I was up at the crack of dawn to go to the doctor.
Because I haven’t been taking care of myself the past two years, mostly because of just not having time with my Mom being sick, I have to start insulin for my diabetes. I have to wait until Friday to start that, but yeah.
Then last night, I couldn’t sleep. My Mom was up sick and I couldn’t sleep.
And this is why I’ve been MIA. Every time I start getting good about posting and doing stuff I want to do, something happens and it pulls me away.
To be honest, I was a little burned out with all the Nick drama earlier this month, but just mentally. I guess being away has helped a little.

Okay so I fell asleep before I even posted that stuff up there last night. How crazy is that? And I slept almost 12 hours. Right now I have the first “Star Wars” move on because I haven’t really seen it in probably 25 years. Everybody is so into it and I’m just like, okay. Whatever. I watched it when I was a kid, but I mean, I just never cared much for it.
Speaking of other things, I got to thinking about a lot of stuff last night, I saw that it was What Happens on the Backstreet’s third anniversary (Happy birthday!) and it got me to thinking about my first website.
The website that would become My Confession was originally named Carter McLean Enterprises and I started it on October 19, 1999. It stayed that name for a few months and I have no idea why I named it that, but now that I look back on it, it’s pretty funny.
The site that would become this site, Boys on the Block, was created on May 1, 2014 – my 16th Backstreet Boys anniversary. It was suggested by a former boss after I was on several webcasts for the whole Nick & Knight thing.
I wanted it to be a big news source for all things boy band related, but with one person, it’s kind of hard to do. I’m glad that I turned it into The Fangirling Life before my mother got sick or else the site would have just died.
It just got me to thinking about things and sometimes that’s good and sometimes it’s not.
But next year, in 2018, the year of Backstreet Boys, my resolution is to keep this site going as much as possible. I have some ideas to correspond with the anniversary.
So, that’s what’s been up. I know… busy, busy, busy, but…. get ready. It’s about to get good.
