Losing my Duran Duran V-Card and Older Fangirls

Last night I got to see Duran Duran live for the first time thanks to my BFF Julia and let me say that she might have started something.

I always liked Duran Duran. I used to be obsessed with the “Hungry Like A Wolf” music video when I was a kid. But living in South Georgia and North Florida, they didn’t really come around so never did I think I would ever see them.

My favorite song by the group is “Ordinary World” though and I forgot how much I loved the song until this past week and it was even better live.

But first, we must talk about older fangirls.

Now, I’m 36, almost 37. I’m not young by any means. It pains me to say that I’m that old because I don’t act my age at all. But I’ve never really been to a concert where most of the fangirls there were 10 or more years older than me. There was one that snuck in her professional camera to get photos and she climbed over seats in front of her to an empty spot.

There was the quote of the night that almost killed Julia and I:

“I’m not going to reverse my menopause to have his baby!”

Now who “he” was, we’re not sure, but we think it might have been someone in the band and the big dreams of a fangirl. Julia and I can’t help but wonder if that quote is going to be said at a Backstreet Boys concert in 10 to 15 years?

Anywho… the concert was pretty damn great. I mean, these guys have been a band for my entire life, longer than that I think by a year or so, and they can still move on stage like Kevin Richardson. Although Simon’s dancing is a little more like Nick Carter’s, which might explain why I realized that he was my favorite back in the day last night.

We all have a type.

Next time they come back, Julia might not have to drag me to go or ask me at the last minute. I might just get a ticket with her when they go on sale.

I’m such a concert whore.

Here’s a few videos from the show last night. Like I said, my fave is obviously “Ordinary World.”
