The video of the hottest duo on country music, Florida Georgia Line, performing Backstreet Boys’ “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” has literally taken the world by storm.

I mean, even TMZ is talking about it and having the guys on to discuss it.

But why is this news now?

BK, as he’s called, talked with CMT about his first concert in January 2015. His first concert? Backstreet Boys. I later found out that it was the July 12, 1998 concert in Jacksonville (not far from his hometown of Ormond Beach, Florida). That was my 18th birthday and I really wanted to go to that show since it was nearby.

As for Tyler? Growing up in rural Georgia, you don’t listen to just one type of music. I’m an example of this. You listen to pretty much everything and during the time that Tyler was very impressionable, several acts were at the top of their game – Garth Brooks and the Backstreet Boys.

In October, Julia and I had pit at Florida Georgia Line’s “Anything Goes” closing show in Atlanta and both said the show reminded us of a Backstreet Boys show. I hadn’t seen them since they opened up for Luke Bryan two years before.

So music world, do your research. Florida Georgia Line loving Backstreet Boys isn’t new news. Stop acting like it is.

Oh and TMZ, stop acting like a country act liking a pop act is the end of the world when you have artists like Taylor Swift, Shania Twain and Faith Hill. Furthermore, if you knew anything, Florida Georgia Line has had two rapper/R&B singers on mixes of their songs.
