Top 10 country songs that the Backstreet Boys (@backstreetboys) should cover

by | Jul 25, 2014 | Backstreet Boys, Boy Bands, Top Lists | 0 comments

As a big country music fan, it’s always been my wish to see the Backstreet Boys perform with someone like Rascal Flatts or Taylor Swift on an episode of “Crossroads.” Once at the American Music Awards, Luke Bryan said he wanted to dance with them.

Back during the “Drowning” days, the boys released two country remixes of the song that had little-to-no success. At 4 a.m. one morning, I was flipping channels to see the music video on CMT.

So I present to you, in my wildest dreams, the 10 country songs that I think the Backstreet Boys should perform or re-record.

10. “I’m Movin’ On” by Rascal Flatts

Another one of my favorite Rascal Flatts songs and a ballad at that (a lot of these are ballads), but I do think Brian’s voice would SHINE on this song. And Howie’s falsetto would also.

9. “Do I” by Luke Bryan

This song by Luke Bryan, which was really his breakout hit, was on the pop charts for a little while. I can hear ALL of the boys singing different parts of this ballad.

8. “My Best Friend” by Tim McGraw

I used this song on my very first fan fiction that I wrote and since then, it has always reminded me of the boys. But now since they are older and married, I could totally see them singing this song to their wives.

7. “Crash My Party” by Luke Bryan

Call me selfish, but I could totally see Kevin singing this song and he would do a freakin’ AWESOME job at it.

6. “Melt” by Rascal Flatts

This is one of my favorite Rascal Flatts song (and I have a lot of them), but the boys’ harmonies would be killer on this song, especially on the chorus. Brian and Nick’s voices would beat Gary LeVox’s by a country mile.

5. “Don’t You Want To Stay” by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson

I have always wanted to see the boys do a duet with a female artist (kind of like they did on that Shania Twain special), but Kelly Clarkson has been on that list of people I would want them to sing with and this duet is perfect.

4. “Love You Back” by Rhett Akins

Listen to the first line of the song… the name. I say no more 🙂 This guy is from my hometown and while this song came out in 1997 I think, he is now one of the BIGGEST songwriters in country music. But listen to that first line… yeah. 🙂

3. “Always On My Mind” by Elvis Presley (or Willie Nelson)

While Willie Nelson wrote the song, Elvis made it famous. It is by far my all-time favorite song. I think Nick and AJ’s voices, along with Brian’s on the verses would be amazing.

2. “Come A Little Closer” by Dierks Bentley

One of the sexiest country songs in recent years, the boys could pop it up a little and it would be perfect. Can you imagine AJ singing those lyrics? Or Nick? Sorry, I think my panties fell off.

1. “Shameless” by Garth Brooks

This is by far one of my favorite Garth Brooks songs and I can just picture Nick emoting on his knees in this song and AJ and Brian’s voices on parts of it. If I could pay money for them to sing this song, I would. This was the song that really made me a full-fledge Garth Brooks fan and drove me over the edge to being a country music fanatic. Those panties I mentioned during “Come A Little Closer”? Yeah, they’d be gone here, too. What country songs would you like to see the Backstreet Boys sing?
