On October 7, 1998, the city of Orlando, Florida named that day Backstreet Boys day and since then, fans around the world have celebrated their favorite group.

And we always will.

How will you spend Backstreet Boys day?

In a post from the Orlando Sentinel:

The city of Orlando is declaring Oct. 7 Backstreet Boys Day in honor of the tornado relief concert the group headlined in March, raising about $250,000 for local victims of the devastation.

While not a federal holiday, it is a great excuse to get off work early and take the kids to the Orlando City Hall plaza at 4 p.m. Wednesday to see the pop phenoms, whose debut album has sold 22 million copies worldwide.

All five – Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson and Howie Dorough – will be there to accept keys to the city and a proclamation from Orlando Mayor Glenda Hood.

“The boys group flew back to their hometown to help out in a big way after our community suffered the nation’s deadliest tornado disaster in 13 years,” Hood said. “We appreciated their support then, and now we want to show some support back.”
