This day in @BackstreetBoys history: March 31, 1998

by | Mar 31, 2015 | History, Videos

On March 31, 1998, the Backstreet Boys released their third single from their U.S. debut album, “Everybody.”

The song wasn’t meant to be on the boys’ U.S. debut album because Jive president Barry Weiss thougth it would be weird to have a song called “Backstreet’s Back” on the album. It was originally only meant for the boys’ second Canadian release, also called “Backstreet’s Back.”

The song ended up on the second version of the U.S. album after the first one million copies were produced.

The music video was filmed almost a year before in June 1997 in Los Angeles and directed by Joseph Kahn.
