Frankly, the title of this post could be “Things not to do at ANY” concert, but for the sake of this site, which let’s face it, is very boy band-heavy with a spice of Marvel, we are discussing boy band concerts.

My first concert was the New Kids on the Block Summer Magic Tour in, I believe, 1990. I was in fourth grate. I don’t remember much from the show besides Donnie Wahlberg taking his shirt off, people screaming, and being in the nosebleeds.

But over the years of going to concerts since I was in fourth grade, I’ve learned a lot of things about the do’s and don’ts of going to concerts.

Here are my rules that good fangirls should follow.

  1. Do not push and shove, especially when you are in pit. If the fans in the front are close to the front that they can get, you are not going to get any closer. The people in the front could get injured. Give people space.
  2. Don’t shove your camera in the boys’ faces. Ask them politely for a photo or autograph. It will make the event more meaningful and the guys will appreciate it.
  3. Do not make fans feel bad for how much they spend on going to events. It’s their money and their time. On the flip side, do not make fans feel bad for NOT having the money to go to events.
  4. Don’t crop fans out of their selfies with the guys. It is extremely rude. It’s happened to me and basically pisses me off.
  5. Be mindful if you see the guys out and about on their own, with a bodyguard, or their families. They are on their own time at that point and not just a Backstreet Boy. A quick hi as you’re passing each other on a sidewalk, sure, but don’t stop and bother them.

Now it’s your turn. Check out the feedback we got from fans on Twitter with their tips on fan etiquette.
